MEdyo naguluhan ako... sabi nya kasi Sempron 140(which is a single core) tapos sa benchmark ng CPUID nakalagay athlon X2....

This processor is actually dualcore, They just disable the other core to make it single. Its just Marketing strategy to make this chip low cost.
You can actually unlock this single core and Make it dual core doubling its speed using Asrock 780g motherboard, or using biostar ta790gxb a2.

di ko minsan maintindihan sila, they're making a dualcore but shutting down the other to make it slow. what's the point?

The cores that are disabled are defective or did not pass the test. So instead of rejecting the whole chip, they just disable the defective core then sell it as one core. Same as true quad cores, they become X2's or X3's.

Wow, this is a pleasant development. With the right motherboard, the potential for cheap dual cores is here. That is, if you want to take the risks.
